The city of Cancun is divided into two parts, a narrow island section stretching 23 km / 14 miles from north to south, on which most of the hotels and resorts are based, and a wider mainland section where the city itself is located.

Cancun International Airport (CUN) is based in the latter section, some 20 km / 12 miles south-west away. The grounds are easily accessible from both sections of the city, being located off the Autopista Merida-Cancun and close to the Avenida Tulum.


Directions to Cancun International Airport (CUN) from the north:

• From Playa Chac Mool on the island section of the city, head west to the mainland
• Take the 307 motorway south once you arrive on the mainland
• Continue straight on at the first intersection you meet
• Take a right turn onto the airport road at the second intersection and follow the signs for the airport

Directions to Cancun International Airport (CUN) from the south:

• From Punta Nizuc on the island section of the city, head west to the mainland, passing through Laguna La Cueva along the way
• Follow the road until you reach the first significant intersection
• Take a left turn at the intersection then proceed a short distance until you meet the next intersection, at which you turn right
• Follow the road to the airport

Directions to Cancun International Airport (CUN) from the east:

• From Playa Marlin on the island section of the city, head south to Punta Nizuc
• Head west to the mainland away from Punta Nizuc, passing through Laguna La Cueva along the way
• Follow the road until you reach the first significant intersection
• Take a left at the intersection and proceed a short distance until you meet the next intersection, at which you take a right turn
• Follow the road to the airport

Directions to Cancun International Airport (CUN) from the west:

• Head east until you join the 307 motorway
• Follow the 307 south, continuing straight when you meet the first intersection
• Take a right turn at the second intersection onto the airport road and follow signs for the airport

Cancun is not renowned for adverse traffic conditions and routes to Cancun International Airport (CUN) are normally clear. However, you should always leave plenty of time in your schedule for unforeseen holdups.
